Wife has driven my truck 75 mph in 4hi. Not for that long 10-15 miles. I wouldn't take it over 55. When traveling highway speeds you really don't need 4wd. 45 is about as fast as I usually take it. Manual says no faster than 62 mph in 4hi. Also says don't shift from 2 to 4hi at speeds over 62 mph. page 5-112/113.

I pulled my 4wd fuse in the cab to keep my 4hi and 4lo lights from flashing and clipped the wires coming out of the three positioning sensors on the manual t-case for 2hi, 4hi and 4 lo. Put a little grease on the coupler splines of the new transfer case and manipulate the output on the back of the transfer case to get it lined up.

If your 4 hi and 4 lo lights are both flashing you made an incomplete shift. the lo light only flashes if you tried to put it in 4 lo. you MUST be stopped and in Neutral in order to make the shift between 4 hi and 4 lo. if you tried to switch to 4 lo at any point and never put the truck in neutral it probably froze there. 1. start your truck

Click to expand... 4hi is to primarily be used ON road. You keep cooking your trans because you aren't using the Jeep properly. The torque converter allows you to not pay much attention to whats going on and just creates a ton of heat due to poor gear reduction for the situation.

The light will flash then stop flashing, showing it is in 4HI lock. Then stop, place trans in neutral allow the vehicle to slightly roll (less than 3 mph) and push the 4LO lock button. It should flash then go solid. Go into Drive and see if you can tell that it is in 4HI lock; lower gearing. GO SLOW.
